The 5.8-ounce, 1.9-inch leg governed that batch. Total package weight would have hidden it. Diameter matters because heat must reach the center of the thickest meat; two drumsticks can weigh alike while carrying that meat differently around the bone.

Use the reference as a starting point. If your largest piece is heavier than 5.8 ounces, wider than 1.9 inches, colder than 39°F, or packed more tightly, it may exceed 44 minutes.
